Damen Shipyards Hoogezand

Damen Shipyards Hoogezand, until 1995 named Scheepswerf Bijlholt was incorporated in 1983 in the Damen Shipyards Group, a maritime group based in the Netherlands, who is engaged in the design and new building of ships, as well as ship repair, and offers a wide range of related maritime services.

Damen Shipyards Hoogezand, founded more than 300 years ago, is the leading yard of the division for new building of sea going cargo vessels, such as multi purpose vessels, container feeders, tankers, "one off's" and specials.

The flow of market and technical information, which is generated from the marketing activities, is constantly monitored. The objective is to discover larger areas of demand for new designs of ships and new techniques. To satisfy these potential new markets, new ships, with a high degree of standardization, are developed with the use of modern computers aided design systems (CAD), sophisticated propulsion calculations, model test to assess thrust resistance, and the know how resulting from continuous feed back from customers.

Due to its extensive knowledge of the marine market, and the high degree of component standardization in the design of vessels it produces, Damen Shipyards Hoogezand holds optimum stocks of component and hulls for a range of vessels.
The delivery time for their vessels is reduced to the time taken to assemble them. Technical cooperation with (sister) shipyards around the world, cost effective worldwide subcontracting and purchasing, efficient assemble and short delivery times have given Damen Shipyards Hoogezand a pre-eminent position within the international shipbuilding industry. 

Damen Shipyards Hoogezand has production facilities at her own location in Hoogezand, and also by their sister companies Damen Yichang in China, Damen Shipyards Galatz in Romania and Damen Shipyards Okean in Ukraine. The production facilities has capacities for the building of all kinds of cargo vessels from 5000 dwt. until approximately 70000 dwt.
