KNVTS & The Water Revolution Foundation at METSTRADE 2022. On Wednesday 16th of November the KNVTS and the Water Revolution Foundation joined forces to organize an interactive discussion about The Future of Superyacht Design at the RAI in Amsterdam. The Water Revolution Foundation functions here as a platform for the international superyacht industry wherein they can share their knowledge, innovation and offer one another collaboration. The shared knowledge via the platform contributes to improvements in the environmental footprint of superyachts.The discussion on stage at METSTRADE was moderated by Dr. Julia Riedmeier, a luxury strategist and teaching at the International University of Monaco and Munich Business School.

Together with an expert panel consisting of: Dasha Moranova, Markus Inäbnit, Michela Reverberi, Tanno Weeda and Moritz Schmidinger they all spoke about how sustainability is the next level in luxury. Whilst the discussion with the various designers was on going the audience was given a chance to give their opinion on what luxury is all about. In nowadays designs it is clearly not all about owning luxury anymore, instead more about experiencing luxury. Then the next step could be considering the feeling that you are contributing to something important as a new form of luxury. For example to use the superyacht for research purposes whilst it is not or partly in use by the owner.

After the discussion there was a selective group who joined for a dinner with a few of the panellists, KNVTS members and a portion of the KNVTS board as well. We hope as KNVTS to contribute as well as forming a platform for people abroad coming to the Netherlands who work in the maritime industry. Creating events wherein new insights could be given in topics such as sustainability and sharing new innovative ideas.
