The KNVTS was originally founded as “Vereeniging van werktuigkundigen ter Koopvaardij” at the “Zuid-Hollandsche Koffiehuis” in May, 1898. With the society’s 125th anniversary coming up, it is time for a celebration. That is why KNVTS will host a symposium (maximum 200 participants) for its members and other friends from the maritime sector in Rotterdam on May 11, 2023, entitled: “The KNVTS takes stock”

Where do we stand with our ambitions on digitalisation and sustainability?

Practical examples, demonstrations and ongoing research will be presented to determine the position of the sector regarding innovations in the fields of sustainability and digitalisation.

 Questions to be answered are:

-        What has already been achieved?

-        Is it necessary to change direction?

-        Do we have to do more?

 On this day, the symposium will focus on two themes:

Sustainability and digitalisation

In two parallel sessions, wind propulsion, alternative fuels, smart maintenance, autonomy, simulation/Digital Twin and Big data applications will be discussed. Innovators from the maritime sector will respond to the questions mentioned above. They will show what has already been achieved or what they have achieved and together we will look ahead to the future.
